- Observation
An opportunity for a party to raise objections to the registration of a trade mark any time up to registration. A party making observations shall not be party to any proceedings before the UK-IPO.
- OHIM
This is the EU's Office for Harmonisation of the Internal Market and is responsible for the registration of Community trade marks and Community designs.
- Opponent
The party objecting to an applicant's application for a trade mark.
- Opposition
The procedure where a third party may formally object to an applicant's application for a trade mark.
- Ownership
The ownership rights vested in trade mark and includes legal rights (those registered at UK-IPO) and beneficial rights (those arising under common law).
