Trainee trade mark attorney

We are currently looking for a graduate to join our Trade Mark and Domain Name team based in our friendly office in Cambridge.

Boult Wade Tennant has substantial UK and Community trade mark practices and our attorneys handle work for many major UK and international brand names.  Clients include British and multinational companies spanning the media and entertainment, food and drink, sport, travel, engineering, electronics, communications, manufacturing and financial service and retail sectors. 

Applicants should have a good degree, ideally but not essentially in law or modern languages, and be enthusiastic, personable and efficient.  Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise own workload will be important qualities, as is the ability to work as a team with the rest of the Trade Mark group.  The work will be diverse and include filing and prosecuting trade mark applications, dealing with contentious issues, as well as involving a variety of hands on tasks associated with managing a client’s trade mark portfolio.  Full training is provided and there is potential for progression within the department to undertake more direct client work.

Trainee Trade Marks Administrator

Arnold & Porter (UK) LLP is a leading international law firm with offices in London, Brussels, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Northern Virginia, San Francisco and Washington DC.  The firm is home to almost 700 lawyers, organised into over 25 practice areas.  The firm maintains an international practice spanning a broad spectrum of law, with its core practice focused on litigation, transactional matters and regulatory issues.

We are looking to recruit a Trainee Trade Mark Administrator to join our trade mark group.  The successful candidate will join a formalities team in a growing trade mark practice and will work closely with our Trade Mark Manager.  Principal duties and responsibilities will include:

• Processing incoming post, all in electronic format, from clients and overseas agents; uploading post into trade mark database
• updating trade mark database, running reports and diary prompts
• checking and sending out certificates
• working on other ad hoc formalities projects.

It is not essential for the successful candidate to have any previous experience of trade mark formalities or trade mark management IT tools, but they will be extremely computer literate, as well as pro-active, a team player who has a very high attention to detail, and an interest for a career in trademarks.  They will be self-organised and able to effectively prioritise their work.

Applicants should have a minimum of 5 GCSEs.  The hours of work will be 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.  The salary will be market rate, dependent on experience.

Trade Mark Assistant

Formalities Manager

Position: Permanent

MW Trade Marks are recruiting a formalities manager to join their Holborn practice.  We are a small but busy team with a wide range of clients and work.

The role will involve:
• Filing applications, renewals, oppositions
• Prosecution of trade marks including drafting and filing responses to official actions
• Administration of trade marks including recording licences and assignments
• Dealing directly with the UKIPO, OHIM and WIPO
• Managing IPPO database, including creating, auditing, checking records to ensure accuracy
• Drafting reports for clients
• Providing support to fee earners
• Reminding staff of their deadlines
• Updating deadlines and filing emails
• Opening and scanning post and reporting it to the relevant members of staff
• Invoicing
• General office duties including preparing letters and providing assistance to the team

The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience of handling trade mark matters
• Have a working knowledge of the UK, OHIM and WIPO systems
• Be an enthusiastic team player
• Be able to supervise junior Formalities staff
• Be able to prioritise a varied workload
• Be able to work to deadlines
• Have excellent attention to detail skills
• Be proactive
• Experience of the IPPO database is desirable
