Free Advice Clinics on Trade Marks
27 January, 2004
Free advice clinics are being offered to the public by the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys beginning on Thursday 3 March 2005.
The clinics will be held at Harmsworth House, 13-15 Bouverie Street, London EC4 on the first Thursday of each month between 5.00 pm and 6.30 pm. Each free session will last up to half an hour.
Introducing the new scheme, Stephen James, President of ITMA said:
“Whether you are just starting in business or already in the market place, you may not be aware of the importance of trade marks to your business success.”
“In order to set you on the right track, we have set up a regular clinic where you can get free advice from fully qualified professionals who will spend up to half an hour with you advising on protecting your trade marks and ensuring others do not infringe your rights. Advisors can also offer help and guidance on designs and design copyright.”
To make an appointment and for further information please contact the Institute office (Tel: 020 8686 2052; e-mail tm@itma.org.uk) or download the forms from the ITMA website www.itma.org.uk and return them to Mrs. M Tyler, ITMA, Canterbury House, 2-6 Sydenham Road, Croydon, Surrey, CR0 9XE.
NOTES FOR EDITORS
1. The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) is the professional body for trade mark attorneys in the United Kingdom. Established in 1934, it plays a significant role in promoting the importance of registering trade marks. Our Members, Trade Mark Attorneys, give specialised legal advice and assistance relating to the selection, registration, protection and exploitation of all kinds of trademarks and brands, as well as designs.
2. Much of our Members’ work involves representing national and international clients of all kinds in registered trade mark and registered design matters before the UK Patent Office and before the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market. The Institute also administers the Register of Trade Mark Agents; no-one may call themselves a "Trade Mark Attorney" unless they are registered on the Register of Trade Mark Agents.
