Trade Mark Advice Clinics Prove a Hit
8 February, 2005
The first free advice trade mark clinic run by the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys has proved a big hit with the public.
In the first of what are to be regular monthly clinics nine people signed up for the half hour sessions with senior ITMA members; all of whom are members of the ITMA Council.
Former President Brian March who ran one of the sessions said:
“This is a great opportunity for members of the public to find out how they can look after their trade marks without having to fork out an initial consultation fee. There is great deal of confusion amongst the business community as to what can or cannot be protected and how to go about making the most of the valuable assets, which are trade marks.”
As an Institute we are committed to improving awareness, particularly amongst SMEs, of the value and importance of intellectual property and the need to use the professional services of fully
qualified trade mark attorneys to secure the best possible protection.”
Tim Allardyce of the Sports Injury Clinic, Addington Palace, Croydon, who signed up for the clinic said. “I attended the trade mark clinic on 3rd March. I was very impressed and pleased that Brian
gave me a straightforward and simplistic approach to understanding trade marks and he guided me through the application procedure for registering a trade mark. I found the clinic incredibly
informative, helpful and friendly.”
“I was not obliged to pay any money, nor advised to continue a course of consultations. It is rare in this day and age to receive a free no obligatory consultation and for this I am indebted to the ITMA.”
ITMA will continue to run these free advice clinics on the first Thursday of each month. The clinics are held at Harmsworth House, 13-15 Bouverie Street, London EC4 between 5.00 pm and 6.30 pm. Judging by the demand for the first sessions, places should be booked as early as possible. Contact Margaret Tyler in the Institute office on 020 8686 2052 to reserve a place.
