Appointment of Trade Mark Attorney Regulation Board Members

The Institute ran an open competition for 3 corporate members to be appointed to the Trade Mark Attorney Regulation Board (TRB)*.  The Institute received eight applications in total.  Following a sift of the applications and a selection of interviews, the panel, consisting of the 4 Officers of ITMA, the Chief Executive of ITMA and Michael Heap (chair of IPREG) as an observer, were delighted to appoint the following people to the TRB:

Ian Buchan – consultant  to Eric Potter Clarkson

Philip Harris – Gill Jennings & Every

Penny Nicholls – D. Young & Co.

The appointments will formally begin on 30th March 2009.

* As an Approved Regulator under the Legal Services Act, ITMA must have its own Board.  The TRB and the equivalent Patent Attorney Regulation Board (PRB) will meet jointly along with three Lay members to make up the substantive IPREG Board.
