Among the largest and most progressive firms of European Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, Murgitroyd & Company have extensive experience of working with international organisations from all industrial sectors. We now have a staff of around 200 including around 70 professional staff operating from eleven European offices.

We assist organisations in protecting their intellectual property rights and have a reputation for providing practical, commercially relevant and technically accurate advice. Our Services

• Trade Mark-related services
  Our overall objective is to ensure that our Client’s Trade Mark rights are protected on an ongoing basis and are consistent with the Clients commercial requirements. The main Trade Mark activities are as follows:
• General advisory
  - development of Trade Mark strategy with Client;
  - advice on selection of new marks including suitability, availability and registrability issues;
  - consideration of appropriate form of protection, for example Trade Mark and Design registration,
  common law rights and copyright
• Trade Mark clearance
  - UK, European and other overseas clearance searches with reports and recommendations.
• Registration
  - Filing, prosecution and maintaining UK, European, US and other international registrations.
• Portfolio management
  - provision of regular schedules and up to date Trade Mark status reports;
  - watching services, to ensure possibly conflicting Marks do not become registered by third parties, and where appropriate, associated opposition proceedings;
  - regular reviews to ensure portfolio is consistent with current and planned activities.
• Other activities
  - provision of infringement advice; and
  - liaison with Trading Standards regarding counterfeit goods.
  - negotiating and drafting licence agreements.
